If you are a PhD applicant interested in working with me, please read this page carefully.

We are in an interesting time for academic public health, and higher education, more broadly. If you’ve made it to this page, I don’t need to spell out all the threats to the public’s health that we are grappling with at the moment. I was inspired to write these frequently asked questions (FAQs) after seeing similar documents from Andrew Ho, Meira Levinson, Dana McCoy and Luke Miratrix at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I borrow heavily from those documents and I’m grateful for their willingness to share them.

On this page, I answer some frequently asked questions and provide some practical advice for doctoral applicants who are interested in working with me. My answers reflect my preferences and should not be considered general advice for applying to the Public Health Sciences PhD Program at UChicago, nor should they be considered advice for any other doctoral program.
